Dentistry pioneers’ imprint on education continues to impact the city

Dr. Quannah McCall was regarded as a “distinguished pioneer in Nevada” thanks to his dentistry practice. He began his practice in Pioche, Nev., where his father also was a dentist. In 1936, the governor selected Quannah as the Nevada State Dentist for his efforts touring Nevada schools in a dental truck and house trailer offering kids dental care. In tow was his young daughter, Connie.

Youth gets his wish to attend cheerleading championships

On April 16, UnitedHealthcare, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada and cheerleaders from Cimarron-Memorial High School celebrated North Las Vegas resident Johnathan Betler, 15, and his wish to attend the International Cheer Union World Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Fla. last week.

Friendship finds a way: southwest hospice volunteer, patient share life, laughter

Hospice volunteers usually expect to lose patients within six months. Betsy Burnett, a veteran volunteer, was used to this. Her current patient, Elizabeth “Betty” Twohey, who is 104, did not follow the trend. She has been in hospice care for five years.
