Cut adminstrator pay to address budget shortfall at Clark County School District

Every day for the past two weeks there has been some type of story about the Clark County School District, mostly about major budget shortfalls. Teachers have to pay out of their own pockets to get supplies. Staff members who work hard don’t get pay raises when promised. They ote to have their interests protected by a different union, and that has to go to court.

But the “upper echelon” of administrators make salaries in the six-figure range.

Why not have the major salary makers take a 2 percent to 3 percent cut in pay? That would save the district lots of money. Why do they get to keep that level of salary and then vote for raises and back pay? Because their union worked a better deal? If the administrators were true to the idea that “it’s all about the children,” they would do the right thing.

This is the most backward, top-heavy school district I’ve ever seen. I’ve lived in quite a few major cities with large school districts, and this one tops them all with the amount of top-heavy individuals who speak one thing and do another.

It’s not about the best education for the children. It’s about how much can they can make.
