Climate change to be focus of Las Vegas discussion

NextGen Climate Nevada will talk about climate change and the economy at a Las Vegas event Wednesday.

The politically active group opened an office in Las Vegas earlier this year for the campaign season and has the goal of bringing climate change “to the forefront of American politics.” The event will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Makers & Finders Coffee, 1120 S. Main St., No. 110, Las Vegas.

The discussion will feature Josh Molinas, owner of Makers & Finders Coffee; Fernando Sandoval, a solar panel technician; Jennifer Taylor, executive director of the nonpartisan group Clean Energy Project; and Erin Bilbray, founder of Emerge Nevada, a nonprofit organization that encourages women to get involved in public service.

NextGen Climate is a national organization started in 2013 by Tom Steyer, a former hedge fund manager.
