Dog that tied up Phoenix freeway traffic reunited with owner

PHOENIX — A dog that tied up morning commute traffic on two Phoenix freeways has been reunited with his owners.

Maricopa County Animal Care and Control officials said Wednesday the German shepherd, whose name is Flash, is back at home.

Spokesman Jose Santiago says the owners had reported the canine missing but hadn’t seen any news coverage of a dog running onto freeways Tuesday morning.

An out-of-state relative who did told them the dog was at the county shelter in quarantine after biting the hand of a state trooper who captured him.

Santiago says the owners, who have asked not to be identified, positively identified Flash and showed he was up to date with his shots.

As a result, Flash is finishing his quarantine at home and has since been microchipped.
