Ala. inmate to be freed after almost 30 years on death row

An Alabama judge on Thursday dismissed the case against an inmate who had been on death row for nearly three decades, the news website AL.com reported.

Anthony Ray Hinton was expected to be released on Friday, after prosecutors decided not to re-try him for the killings of two fast-food managers in 1985, the website reported.

AL.com reported that new testing failed to match the bullets found at the crime scenes to a gun at his house.
