Here’s the England own goal that sent Japan to the World Cup final
If anyone can use some tea and crumpets or biscuits or whatever else the English eat at tea time, it’s Laura Bassett.
The England defender scored a dreaded own goal in the 92nd minute Wednesday to put Japan into the Women’s World Cup final against the United States with a 2-1 victory.
Bassett’s sliding attempt to clear a cross deflected off the underside of the bar and over the goal line to crush England’s hopes in the cruelest possible way.
On second thought, forget tea. Bassett could probably use a pint or 12 at an English pub.
