Westgate Resorts CEO says minimum pay to be $10 an hour

David Siegel, Westgate Resorts founder and CEO, said Wednesday that a companywide increase in minimum pay for its workers, including those at Westgate’s Las Vegas resorts, would go to $10 per hour starting Jan. 1.

All Westgate employees currently earning less than $10 per hour will receive a pay increase to the new level except commissioned and tipped employees or employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

In addition, all future Westgate workers outside of these exceptions will have a minimum starting pay of $10 per hour.

In a statement, Westgate also said the company is implementing its fourth consecutive merit increase for all eligible employees. Earlier this year, the company implemented a full 100-percent, dollar-for-dollar employer match of a team member’s first 4 percent contribution.
