An eye care mobile unit, that will provide free services to low-income and underserved children in Southern Nevada, was unveiled Tuesday morning at Martinez Elementary School in North Las Vegas.

The mobile was made possible with a $1 million donation from the Elaine P. Wynn and Family Foundation.

Eye Care 4 Kids, the organization that will operate the unit, already has eye clinics at three different schools — Grant Sawyer Middle School, Robert Taylor Elementary School and Brinley Middle School. But the mobile unit will travel to various other schools and provide free eye exams and glasses in partnership with the Clark County School District and Communities in School of Nevada.

The three clinics have served about 3,000 children and the hope is that the mobile unit will serve thousands more.

Eye Care 4 Kids also has a mobile unit in Salt Lake City, Utah, that travels to the rural areas to provide free eye care.
