Brazilian officials raid hotels hosting World Cup teams

The 2014 World Cup is just a few weeks away and one would think the authorties would do everything in their power to help the host country Brazil gain every competitive advantage.

Instead, government officials raided two hotels which will host the national teams from England and Italy and cited them for unsanitary conditions.

Both Hotel Portobello and the Royal Tulip Hotel flunked the inspection and were forced to throw away over 450 pounds of food. Included were large amounts of seafood, meat, and cheese that had either spoiled, or had no visible expiration date written on it.

So bravo to the Brazilian government for its diligence. And a word to the wise to the competing countries — bring your own food and your own chefs.
