Bybee leaves as Sandoval public relations chief
CARSON CITY — The changes in Gov. Brian Sandoval’s office continued this week with the departure of Stewart “Mac” Bybee, who served as director of public relations and community affairs.
Sandoval’s office confirmed that Bybee resigned from his position, but no further details were provided.
Bybee could not immediately be reached for comment.
Bybee’s departure comes as Sandoval’s chief of staff, Gerald Gardner, leaves to take a job with a gaming company in Las Vegas. Mike Willden, director of the state Department of Health and Human Services, is taking over the position starting Monday.
Bybee came to Sandoval’s office in 2013 after serving six years managing media relations for U.S. Sen. Dean Heller in Washington, D.C.
Bybee is a native Nevadan who grew up in Carson City and attended the University of Nevada, Reno.
