Pets die in suspicious northwest valley fire

One person was arrested in connection with a house fire that killed four pets in the northwest valley Wednesday afternoon.

Crews are on scene in the 6900 block of Brier Creek Lane near Grand Teton Drive and Rainbow Boulevard, according to Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Tim Szymanski.

One of the people in the house told firefighters something was thrown through a window and started the fire, Szymanski said. Arson investigators were on scene. Details of the arrest were not released late Wednesday.

Three dogs and one exotic bird died in the fire, according to the department’s Twitter.

Nobody was injured and damage was estimated at $50,000.
