One hospitalized from apartment fire on Maryland Parkway

One person was hospitalized Friday morning after a fire broke out at the French Oaks Apartments, on Maryland Parkway near the Boulevard Mall.

Clark County Fire Department Deputy Chief Erik Newman said the call came in just before 5 a.m.

Firefighters found heavy fire coming from a balcony. Several apartments were evacuated.

Two people were treated at the scene and one person suffering from smoke inhalation was taken to University Medical Center.

Damage was estimated at $100,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
