Two people die after being pulled from Truckee River in Reno

RENO — An 18-year-old and a 23-year-old who were pulled from the waters of the Truckee River have died, according to Reno police.

Rescuers responded to the river about 4 p.m. Monday, KOLO-TV reported.

Witnesses told police the two had entered a relatively deep part of the river just west of the South McCarran Boulevard, struggled to swim and disappeared under the water.

Officials from the Sparks Fire Department, Reno Police Department and Washoe County Search and Rescue team arrived and pulled the victims from the water. They were later pronounced dead at Renown Regional Medical Center.

Their names were not immediately released.
