AMBER alert canceled for mother, 5-year-old daughter headed to NY to ‘meet Jehovah’
Nevada Highway Patrol and the Fallon Police Department have canceled a statewide AMBER alert.
Rebecca Maria Smart, 31, and her 5-year-old daughter, Rachael Rose Smart, told friends that the end of the world was near and they were going to New York to “meet Jehovah,” according to the initial AMBER alert.
The girl and her mother left Fallon last night and were safely located in Schurz this morning.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol an elderly couple spotted the pair near the Schurz Post Office and observed Rebecca acting strangely.
They contacted the Schurz Police Department, which located both Rebecca and Rachael and took them to a hospital in Churchill County.
Smart has a history of mental problems and may not have been taking her medication.
