Here are a few items in pop culture that caught our eye last week.

■ NBA player Jason Collins ■ announces that he’s gay. Best thing to happen in the NBA since the shot clock.

■ Beyonce bans news photographers from her world tour. Welcome to the exciting world of professional journalism, everybody who owns a cellphone and scores front-row tickets!

■ A Gardnerville company is selling land on the moon starting at $19.99 an acre. Don’t wait, because those scenic vistas along the Fra Mauro Highlands are gonna go quick.

■ American Express calculates that Americans will spend an average of $539 on every wedding they attend this year. Unless it’s a Las Vegas wedding, which will amount to the cost of a dice clock and your share of the reception tab at IHOP.
