Mira Villa owners form community

Like most of the owners at Mira Villa, Marilynn Lacey and her husband, Steve, were attracted to the luxury condominium complex by its Summerlin location, floor plans, amenities and construction. What the Laceys didn’t expect was the sense of community developing among the homeowners.

“I think it’s stronger than in most neighborhoods made up of single-family homes and certainly more prevalent than in many condominium communities or tower communities,” Marilynn Lacey said.

The Laceys moved into their unit in November, and Marilynn quickly met their neighbors. In March there was a gathering of the homeowners in the clubhouse and outdoor lanai area surrounding the pool. Nearly 50 of the owners were in attendance and mingling with their neighbors.

“The event was so fun and valuable to me that I insisted that we continue to hold them,” Lacey said. “Maybe it’s the Midwesterner in me, but I feel like it’s really important to nurture community because it can’t be forced. I love knowing my neighbors and thinking that there is someone who can water my plants while I’m out of town or get together with that lives nearby. I collected contact information from everyone at the March event and, with the help of my neighbors, we will host a second such event at the end of May.”

Tera Anderson, director of sales at Mira Villa, said she noticed a community forming some time ago.

“Months ago I would see a group of residents out walking together in the area on my drive into work in the morning,” she said. “I point it out to potential buyers because we have something here that can’t be built, rather just happens. It is community and a sense of place.”

The gated community overlooks the TPC Las Vegas and Angel Park golf courses. It is near shopping, Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, the Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and casinos.

It has 21 midrise buildings constructed of concrete and steel with emphasis on sound abatement and fire protection, Anderson said. For more information, visit www.LiveMiraVilla.com or call 702-254-4647.
