Aircraft crash lands Sunday after leaving Mesquite

A pilot from Sunriver, Ore., had just taken off from the airport in Mesquite on Sunday when he felt a vibration, noticed an engine surge and saw his vintage aircraft lose its propeller.

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Trish Carter said Charles Louis Rosenfeld, 66, suffered minor injuries when he made an emergency landing at 9:47 a.m. on a northwest Arizona mesa three miles from the airport.

Carter said Rosenfeld suffered lacerations to his head.

No passengers were aboard the 1946 Engineering and Research 415-C. She said the accident will be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
