A seminar on coins is scheduled for 6 p.m. March 20 at the Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Parkway. The workshop is expected to explore historical facts about coins and what makes them valuable. Participants must be 18 or older.

COUNCILWOMAN SCHEDULES MEETING

Henderson City Councilwoman Gerri Schroder is scheduled to have her Ward 1 Neighborhood Connection meeting at 6 p.m. March 21 at the Heritage Park Senior Facility, 300 Racetrack Road.

Schroder is expected to share updates about the city and answer questions from residents. Representatives from city departments also are expected to attend.

E BUNNY COLLECTING EASTER BASKETS

NEVADA PARTNERS RECEIVES DONATION

Toyota Financial Savings Bank and Toyota Financial Services recently donated $15,000 to Nevada Partners for its Community Revitalization and Youth Entrepreneurship. The nonprofit is expected to use the money to establish an asset development center and revitalization project.

CLOTHING FOR VETERANS

Hosted by U.S. VETS-Las Vegas, the annual Veterans Stand Down is a grass-roots, community-based intervention program designed to help homeless veterans “combat” life on the streets. This year’s event is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 27 and 28 at the Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

To help prepare for it, Humana Inc. plans to host a clothing drive. Shirts, pants, socks, undergarments and hats, along with duffel bags and tote bags are needed. Clothes should be dropped off to the Humana Guidance Centers by March 6 to allow for cleaning, sorting and necessary maintenance. In Henderson, donations can be dropped off at 1000 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite 720.

Also, Vons plans to have collection bins through March 6 for those who wish to donate canned and nonperishable food to the veterans group.

STUDENTS TO SHOWCASE DESIGNS

The Junior League of Las Vegas has scheduled a student fashion show for 2 p.m. March 9 at the Fashion Show mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Students received donated materials and gift cards to make their costumes based on the theme “Into the Forest.”

Participating schools are Centennial High School, 10200 W. Centennial Parkway; Las Vegas High School, 6500 E. Sahara Ave.; Southwest Career and Technical Academy, 7050 W. keeping kids safe project plans

The Keeping Kids Safe Project is scheduled to have a child safety fair from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Ford Country, 280 N. Gibson Road.

The event is expected to feature free child fingerprinting and presentations by law enforcement agencies.
