Water Cooler

Here are a few things in pop culture that caught our eye last week.

■ The Golden State Warriors introduce jerseys with sleeves. Because it’s fun to watch an NBA game in which half of the players look like big kids wearing SpongeBob SquarePants Underoos.

■ Budget cuts threaten to ground Nellis Air Force Base’s Thunderbirds. We’re all for saving money, but shouldn’t sheer coolness count for something?

■ Madonna joins Instagram. Because, darn it, what the world needs is more pictures of Madonna.

■ A photo reportedly taken just hours after Pope Benedict XVI ■ announces that he’ll resign seems to show lightning striking the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. Just keep telling yourself: It’s just a coincidence, it’s just a coincidence.
