Touareg from Findlay perfect for any weather
Even when the snow is virtually nonexistent in Southern Utah, it's always a good idea to have a sure-footed vehicle for the trip to some of the nation's most beautiful country.
Southern Utah has its share of a diverse climate and road conditions, whether it is the racetrack like Interstate 15 that connects Las Vegas with Salt Lake City or mountainous terrain that can be a challenge throughout the year and especially during the winter.
The 2013 Volkswagen Touareg V-6 Sport with 280 horsepower, navigation and a host of vital features, including 4Motion All Wheel Drive System, creates a sense of security when it's needed most. When cruising through Southern Utah, conditions tend to change dramatically, especially when traveling on state Route 14, which stretches about 35 miles from Cedar City to Highway 89.
The first few miles up Route 14 are picturesque with a combination of a stream and views of steep cliffs via a two-lane road. The real challenge comes when the weather changes from the fall to wicked winter conditions that can include quick-hitting snow storms.
The Touareg is ready no matter what the weather.
The climb to a quaint community called Duck Creek, which is about 29 miles west of Cedar City and at an elevation of more than 10,000 feet, can be treacherous in winter weather.
"I have been around the car business for 20 years and I honestly cannot think of a better all-round vehicle than the Touareg," said Findlay Volkswagen North executive Jim Donohue, who believes so much in the vehicle that he owns a 2012 Touareg TDI Executive. "I will take it anywhere at any time, and I know that our customers buying the Touareg feel the same way. It's also available with a diesel engine, which is rated at 29 miles to the gallon on the highway."
The VW Touareg has won several honors including the Top Safety Pick in the 2011-'13 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Donohue said the Touareg is comparable to the Porsche Cayenne and the Toyota Land Cruiser.
"The only real difference is that the Touareg costs thousands of dollars less," Donohue said. "When we sell a Touareg, we never worry about the customer."
