Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada names interim leaders

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada appointed interim leaders Tuesday to replace Monsignor Patrick Leary, who died of heart failure last week.

Dawn Davis, a 20-year veteran with the nonprofit organization, was named interim chief operating officer. Deacon Thomas Roberts of the Diocese of Las Vegas will serve as transition administrator until the charity board addresses a long-term succession plan.

Davis has worked most recently as vice president of food services, overseeing all programs related to providing meals. Davis will be responsible for daily operations of all Catholic Charities programs during the transition period.

Roberts will support Davis in her new role. He is a permanent ordained deacon with the Las Vegas diocese and has served in various executive roles for the past 25 years.

The Diocese of Las Vegas and Catholic Charities have created the Monsignor Patrick R. Leary Legacy Fund, which will be used to help with programs Leary worked on. Donations may be made through Catholic Charities at 1501 Las Vegas Blvd. North, or by calling 702-385-2662.
