Havasu woman faces crime against nature counts

KINGMAN, Ariz. - A young Lake Havasu City woman is being prosecuted after candidly admitting she had sex with her father's dogs for years, police said.

Brittany Sonnier, 20, is charged with two counts of crime against nature.

Her estranged boyfriend brought the matter to police attention in mid-November when they were going through a breakup, according to a 65-page police report.

The 27-year-old man told police that Sonnier confided that she enjoyed sexual activity with dogs as she showed him Internet images of beastiality and cartoons involving incest in June.

The estranged boyfriend informed Sonnier's father and police about the dog sex, indicating concern for the welfare of her 11-month-old son. The police reports state that Sonnier's father confronted her and that he was disgusted when she admitted taking liberties with his male dogs - Shotsy and Gambit.

There were further admissions when Sonnier was interviewed by Lake Havasu City police Detective Cindy Slack on Oct. 10. She said she was 11 years old when she first started touching dogs with a neighbor girl in Georgia.

"I've always known it's like, it's bad," Sonnier told Slack. She said she became concerned when she learned at the age of 15 that having sex with animals is illegal in some states.

"Obviously, if anyone knew, I could possibly go to jail and I could never be allowed to have a pet of any sort," she said.

The police reports indicate that Sonnier was working to get into a counseling program to address the various sexual issues.
