Agassi, other investors join waterpark developers

Tennis star Andre Agassi and other investors have joined the development team behind Splash Canyon Waterpark, which was scheduled to open earlier this year in southwest Las Vegas Valley.

Developers Roger Bulloch and Scott Bulloch, co-founders and principals of SPB Capital Partners, are expected to announce details about the water park's rides, amenities and project timeline today at the World Waterpark Association Tradeshow at Paris Las Vegas.

The park's investment team includes SPB Partners, Andre Agassi and Steven and Karen Thomas.

With its new partners, the park will be "bigger and better" than originally planned, with a water slide that will be a first of its kind in North America, the developers said.

Construction at the park on Fort Apache Road, near Warm Springs Road, has been continuing with offsite utilities, roadwork, infrastructure and excavation of the wave pool and other areas.

The project is a public-private partnership with Clark County and The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin.

The new scheduled opening date is Memorial Day 2013.
