Man pleads not guilty in shooting of parents

A 28-year-old man accused of fatally shooting his mother and wounding his father pleaded not guilty last week to four counts, including murder with a deadly weapon.

Authorities say Jeffrey Wilson's growing paranoia because of a methamphetamine addiction caused him to shoot his parents because he believed they were trying to poison him.

The shooting of Kathryn Wilson, 58, and William Wilson, 61, happened about 4:45 a.m. June 27 outside a home at 3077 Greendale St., near Vegas Valley Drive and Lamb Boulevard.

The couple were in their 2004 Lexus preparing to go to the airport, according to a Las Vegas police report.

Detectives learned of Wilson's irrational behavior and paranoia from his girlfriend.

He was found at Arizona Charlie's on Boulder Highway. He told investigators he'd been at the casino at the time of the shooting and asked to speak with a lawyer.

Wilson remained at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
