Woman from Tonopah dies in crash on U.S. 6

TONOPAH - The Nevada Highway Patrol on Tuesday released the name of a Tonopah woman killed in a crash over the weekend on U.S. Highway 6 in Esmeralda County.

Sandra Del Pilar Jensen, 50, was a passenger who was thrown from a 2000 Mercury Mystique during a single-vehicle accident about 11:15 a.m. Saturday.

Trooper Barb Stapleton said Jensen and the driver - who has not been identified - were headed west on U.S. 6 about three miles north of Tonopah when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason.

Stapleton said it wasn't yet known whether alcohol played a factor in the wreck.

The accident remained under investigation.
