An 86-year-old man died Friday after he was hit by a car while crossing a street in a motorized wheelchair.

Police said a Ford Mustang driven by Roman Marfori, 31, of Las Vegas struck the man who was crossing Cheyenne Avenue east of Maverick Street at approximately 6:39 p.m.

The man, who witnesses said was not in a crosswalk, was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

This is the 68th traffic-related fatality in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year.
