HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, learn about geology and nature on a moderate, 3-mile hike in Oak Creek Canyon; for ages 10 and older.

Desert National Wildlife Refuge: On Saturday, look for animals on an easy, half-mile walk to Corn Creek Spring.

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people 50 and older who are involved in hiking and related social activities plans several hikes each week of various difficulty levels, including an easy-to-moderate social hike on Saturdays. OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, view types of arachnids, reptiles, birds and mammals found in Red Rock in a tabletop presentation from 11 a.m. to noon at the visitor center. On Wednesday, meet Mascot Max, a representation of Mojave Max, and learn interesting facts about the state reptile, the desert tortoise. On Thursday, learn about the animals that call Red Rock home in a tabletop exhibit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the visitor center. On Saturday, kids can take part in story time at 11 and 11:30 a.m.
