Elko Mining Expo adds booths to deal with record demand

ELKO - Organizers of the annual Elko Mining Expo are adding more exhibit booths this summer to deal with record demand.

Tourism officials expect the event to attract between 8,000 and 10,000 visitors to the Elko Convention Center June 6-8.

Jen Knight of the Elko Convention and Visitors Authority said they added 48 booths for a total of 445 last year. She said they're adding another 40 overflow booths in the Elko Main City Park this year for a record total of 496.

Knight said hotel rooms are going fast and the June 6 kickoff banquet at the Stockmen's Hotel & Casino already is sold out.
