Significant amount of money embezzled from senior center

Fallon Police Chief Kevin Gehman said a significant amount of money has been embezzled from the Churchill County Senior Center. But he declined to release the total amount of funds believed to be missing because of an ongoing criminal investigation.

Police were alerted to the case on Jan. 17. No arrests have been made yet.

Gehman told the Lahontan Valley News that investigators have identified a former employee as a suspect, but other people may have been involved.

Authorities performed an audit of the senior center and found unauthorized withdrawals twice every month.
