Man wanted for war crimes deported from Las Vegas
An ex-Bosnian-Serb police commander accused of war crimes in the 1990s who had been living in Las Vegas was deported Wednesday, according to federal officials.
Dejan Radojkovic, 61, arrived in Sarajevo on Thursday morning on a commercial flight from McCarran International Airport under the watch of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. He was then turned over to local law enforcement.
The former Las Vegas resident is accused of using his authority as a police commander in 1995 to aid in the genocide of more than 7,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys.
He fled to the United States in 1999 and was arrested in Las Vegas in 2009, officials said.
He was ordered to be deported later in 2009, and his appeal was denied.
