Emergency regulation issued for upcoming judicial election
The Nevada secretary of state's office has issued an emergency regulation for nominating candidates for election to an upcoming vacancy on the Clark County District Court bench.
The regulation signed Monday allows potential candidates for the Department 4 seat to complete a nominating petition and gather 761 signatures of registered voters by May 21.
Judicial candidates who collect the required number of signatures will appear on the November general election ballot.
The Nevada Judicial Selection Commission also is accepting applications through April 20 from lawyers seeking appointment to the Department 4 bench being vacated by District Judge Kathy Hardcastle.
Hardcastle has announced her retirement effective April 13. She has served on the bench since 1997.
