Sacred Peace Walk begins

About 20 people gathered Sunday, Apr. 1, 2012  to join in the annual Sacred Peace Walk in Las Vegas. The walk, organized by the Nevada Desert Experience, began at the National Atomic Testing Museum and will continue through the end of the week, eventually ending at the Nevada National Security Site, formerly the Nevada Test Site. Organized in the 1980s, the Nevada Desert Experience is an interfaith group that opposes nuclear weapons. "We walk to raise awareness about the ongoing problem of nuclear weapons research in our country," said Jim Haber, coordinator of the Nevada Desert Experience. The group is planning demonstrations Wednesday at Creech Air Force Base and Friday at the Nevada National Security Site.
