Teen killed in hit-and-run accident identified

A 17-year-old girl who died in a car accident early on New Year's Day was identified Wednesday.

Mayra Lorena Verduzco was a passenger in a car about 2:15 a.m. Sunday when the vehicle was rear-ended by a 2004 Cadillac DeVille at Eastern Avenue and Canosa Avenue.

Verduzco's mother, Lorena Verduczo, 48, was driving the car with three passengers, including a 2-month-old baby girl. No one else was seriously hurt.

The Cadillac fled the scene.
