Fall down elevator shaft leaves man in critical condition

A man fell 20 to 25 feet down an elevator shaft at the Luxor early Saturday morning, according to Las Vegas police.

Lt. Hans Walters said Monday that two male acquaintances got into a shoving match about 3:40 a.m. in the Strip resort's West Tower lobby area. One of the men was shoved into elevator doors.

Walters said the elevator doors opened and one of the men plunged down the shaft. He said the injured man was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

The Metropolitan Police Department's Violent Crimes Section was investigating.
