Masto joins push supporting nominee to lead consumer bureau
Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto has joined with 36 of her colleagues in calling on the U.S. Senate to take up consideration of Rich Cordray's nomination to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Masto, a Democrat, was joined by her Republican counterpart Mark Shurtleff of Utah, in signing a letter in support of Cordray, a former Ohio attorney general, that was send to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
Twenty-nine Democrats and eight Republicans signed the letter. Cordray's nomination is on hold in the Senate after Republicans expressed reservations about the bureau.
