Game wardens seek killer of black bear on Peavine Peak

RENO -- Nevada game wardens are investigating the illegal killing of a black bear found on Peavine Peak near Reno. Warden Cameron Waithman said someone discovered the dead bear near Kiowa Pond and reported it to authorities Tuesday.

Officials said the 200-pound male bruin had been shot several times. They believe the bear was killed elsewhere and then dumped on Peavine Peak.

Illegal killing of a big game animal is a felony punishable by possible fines, prison and forfeiture of equipment.
