State senator Breeden to honor stepfather who died in crash

Nevada state Sen. Shirley Breeden is hosting a public memorial for her stepfather after he was killed in what appears to be a drug-related crash in Las Vegas.

The Henderson Democrat said Wednesday that she wants to share the life of 82-year-old Robert Foster with those who cared about him.

A service will be held Aug. 20 at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., in Las Vegas.

Foster was riding in the passenger seat Thursday when a 29-year-old man is alleged to have run a red light and crashed his vehicle into a car driven by Foster's wife, 78-year-old Geneva Foster. Breeden said it is unknown whether her mother will ever fully recover from the crash. She remains at a local hospital.

Police said Jose Gomez faces a charge of driving under the influence of drugs.
