Historic hotel’s rooms to become office suites

GARDNERVILLE -- A historic hotel in Gardnerville will assume a new role after being purchased by a local man. The Record-Courier of Gardnerville reported Re/Max Realty Affiliates owner John Fisher acquired the Adaven Hotel along U.S. 395 for $275,000 with plans to convert 11 upstairs rooms into office suites later this summer.

Built in 1895, the Adaven once served as a hotel for sheepherders. Over the years, it also was home to a merchandise store, restaurant and post office. Its first floor now houses Buckaroos saloon.

Eventually closed due to a lack of fire sprinklers, the upstairs rooms now will be renovated to function as offices under county code.
