Here are a few things in news, sports, entertainment and pop culture that we've been talking about lately.

■ Declines in real estate prices will mean lower taxes for many Clark County homeowners. Um, hooray?

■ An Oregon veterinarian reportedly saves the life of a bald eagle with mouth-to-beak CPR. Thankfully, the bird's prostate was just fine.

■ Casey Anthony is released from jail. Thus beginning the countdown to the inevitable Playboy spread, the inevitable talk show redemption tour and the inevitable cheesy Lifetime movie.

■ Scotland Yard officials resign after the agency is implicated in the Rupert Murdoch/News of the World scandal. Somewhere, Sherlock Holmes is smiling.

■ A Utah man is arrested for allegedly pelting a Southwest Airlines flight attendant with snacks during a flight. Apparently, this isn't the first food fight the man -- one "Mr. Blutarsky" -- has been accused of starting.
