A 70-year-old inmate was found dead Thursday morning at the Las Vegas jail.
No foul play was suspected in the man's death, authorities said.
He was alone in his cell and had been transferred from the Clark County Detention Center about a week earlier.
The county coroner's office has not released the man's identity.
City officials wouldn't say why the man was in jail.
The officer is accused of kidnapping, pointing a gun at and strangling his wife, who also works for the police department.
