Driver sentenced to prison after driving across graves
CARSON CITY -- A Nevada woman is going to prison for 16 to 48 months for driving across graves while leading police on a high-speed chase that ended at a Carson City cemetery.
Carson City District Court Judge Todd Russell sentenced 43-year-old Laurie Hancock on Monday on a felony eluding police charge, according to The Nevada Appeal.
Police reported that an officer noticed an open bottle of whiskey next to Hancock when she was stopped May 12 in a vehicle seen driving erratically near Lone Mountain Cemetery.
Hancock was accused of speeding away while the officer fetched a sobriety kit.
Reports say speeds reached 75 mph before Hancock lost control of the vehicle.
Officers reported that Hancock took a last swig of whiskey as officers rushed her vehicle.
