Grand Sierra Resort will get $25 million makeover in fall

RENO -- Officials for the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno have announced plans for a $25 million renovation this fall.

The property's new owner, the Meruelo Group, says the plans call for adding a Mexican restaurant and a country-western dance hall. They plan to renovate the casino floor and remake all 2,000 rooms and suites at Northern Nevada's largest hotel-casino.

Reno gaming analyst Ken Adams told the Reno Gazette-Journal that the renovation is a very positive sign for a property that has struggled in recent years.
