Fresno rocks Cecil, 51s in series finale

FRESNO, Calif. ---- James Simmons went 4-for-4 with a home run, and the Fresno Grizzlies erupted for 15 hits in a 12-4 Pacific Coast League victory over the 51s on Tuesday night.

The Grizzlies got to 51s starter Brett Cecil (7-2) for seven runs during a second inning uprising that included home runs by Tyler Graham and former San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval.

Cecil allowed 10 hits and eight earned run in 3 1/3 innings and saw his ERA skyrocket to 6.04.

Fresno built a 12-0 lead before the 51s (33-27) scored three runs in the eighth and one in the ninth. Ryan Shealy connected for his third home run of the season, a solo shot in the eighth.

Adam Loewen, Manny Mayorson and Shealy had two hits each for the 51s, who collected nine hits off three Fresno pitchers.

The Grizzlies' Andrew Kown (7-4) went 7 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs. He walked one and struck out three.
