HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate, 4-5 mile hike with some scrambling up Rocky Gap Road. On Tuesday, a strenuous, 8-mile hike at Brownstone Canyon. On Wednesday, a moderate to strenuous 4-mile hike at Krafft Mountain. On Friday, a moderate, 5-mile hike with a 500-foot elevation gain at Potato Knoll (515-5367).

Around The Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

Valley of Fire: On Feb. 27, a 1.25-mile loop hike at White Domes Trailhead from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. (397-2088).

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Friday, a canyon clean-up is scheduled. On Saturday, a story time for children ongoing at the visitor center. Also Sturday, a program for 2-10 year olds on animal movements and rhythms. On Feb. 27, a program for 3-8 year olds on animals (515-5367).

Valley of Fire: Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and again from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. will be a program about coyotes at the visitor center (397-2088).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org.
