Las Vegas doctor settles allegations in fraud case

A Las Vegas doctor will pay the U.S. government more than $1.25 million to settle civil allegations of fraud, U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden said Monday.

Dr. Brian Lemper did not admit any wrongdoing in the settlement.

Officials claim that between October 2004 and August 2007 Lemper "submitted or caused to be submitted inflated or overstated claims" for surgeries and supplies to two federal health insurance programs: TRICARE and the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program.

A board certified anesthesiologist and pain management specialist, Lemper has practiced in Las Vegas for more than a decade. He runs the Center for Surgical Intervention on Durango Drive. Telephone calls seeking comment were not immediately returned.
