Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate, 4½-mile hike around part of the Grand Circle. On Tuesday, a moderate, 5-mile hike with a 500-foot elevation gain at Potato Knoll. Also Tuesday, a moderate, 3-mile meteor shower night hike. Bring a flashlight. On Thursday, a moderate, 5-mile hike around another part of the Grand Circle. On Friday, a moderate 3-mile hike with a minimal elevation gain and some scrambling at the Arnight Knoll Loop. On Saturday, a moderate, 3-4-mile hike around the Red Springs Area (515-5367).

Around The Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three-to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's website: www.aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, learn about rock art in a tabletop program. On Thursday, an interactive table at the visitor center on animal tracks. On Saturday, Ranger Jim Cribbs will lead a discussion on reptiles. Seating is limited. Also Saturday, a program for 2-6 year olds on how animals adapt to the weather. On Jan. 9, a program for 2-6 year olds on wild versus domesticated animals (515-5367).
