Vdara closing Silk Road restaurant March 8

Vdara, a nongaming hotel and condominium development at CityCenter, is closing its Silk Road restaurant on March 8.

MGM Resorts International, which owns CityCenter in a 50-50 partnership with Dubai World, said a new eatery and retail concept, Market Café Vdara, would open on March 1.

The new café will offer Vdara guests a grocery and gourmet coffee bar, featuring sandwiches, pastries, panini sandwiches, crepes and frozen yogurt as well as quick-grab salads.

In an e-mail, MGM Resorts spokeswoman Jenn Michaels said business demands are not supporting the restaurant's continued operation.

All of the Silk Road's 27 employees will have the opportunity to shift either to Vdara's pool, the Market Café Vdara or other positions open throughout the company.
