Fundraiser scheduled for veterans memorial in LV

The second annual American Heroes Challenge will be held Nov. 6-7 to raise money for construction of a veterans memorial in Las Vegas.

Presented by American Shooters, the event is open to the public and will feature a firearms and tactics competition at the Clark County Shooting Park, 11357 N. Decatur Blvd.

"American Heroes Challenge was designed to test the technical, tactical and physical capabilities of the nation's armed forces and first responders from across the country," according to the event's organizers.

"We are extremely excited to hold this year's American Heroes Challenge at the Clark County Shooting Park. Not only has park management and staff been incredibly helpful in making this year's competition a reality and supporting the mission of American Heroes Challenge, but the facility is first-rate and will allow the creation of challenging competition stages," said Ernie Beckwith, director of Ranges and Education at American Shooters and event director.

The American Heroes Challenge project aims to raise $1 million for construction of the Las Vegas Veterans Memorial.
