44-year-old LV man named as pedestrian struck, killed by car

A man fatally struck by a car Saturday morning at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Swenson Street was identified Monday.

Peter Callaghan, 44, of Las Vegas died after he tried to cross Flamingo from the south side and was struck by a 2007 Lincoln Town Car, police said.

The car driven by Sharon Smith, 66, of Las Vegas was headed west on Flamingo and had a green light at the Swenson intersection, said police citing witnesses and evidence at the scene.

Callaghan was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police initially said Saturday that Callaghan was from Kansas City, Mo.
