Motorcyclist dies after being struck by pickup truck

A motorcyclist from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., who was critically injured Wednesday in a traffic accident died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Charles Stauffer, 61, had the right of way as he rode north on Acoma Boulevard North at the intersection with Palo Verde Boulevard South, said Lake Havasu police Sgt. Joe Harrold.

Stauffer was knocked off his 2005 Harley-Davidson about 9:20 a.m. when he was struck by a westbound pickup.

Harrold said the truck's driver, Virgle Mooney, 85, also of Lake Havasu City, stopped for a red light but entered the intersection before the light turned green. Mooney was not hurt in the crash.

Harrold said the intersection had been a four-way stop before a traffic light was put in operation there in mid-October
